What is a Virtual Dedicated Server (VDS)?
Virtual Dedicated Servers run in a virtualized environment, just like Virtual Private Servers. The difference is that each VDS gets a fixed number of CPU cores and the amount of RAM permanently assigned for each account and not shared with anyone. You can add more storage to your VDS and thus it offers more customizable hardware options than VPS. VDS are often referred to as a slice of a Dedicated Server.
What's the difference between VDS & Dedicated Server?
A dedicated server is dedicated to you and you alone. Unlike VDS, with dedicated server you get the use all of the RAM and CPU resources available on the server of your choice.
Can I change VDS hardware configuration later?
CPU cores and RAM cannot be changed, but you can upgrade your storage capacity. We can, however, help you upgrade to a Dedicated Server if you need more power.
What's the difference between Managed and Self Managed VDS?
With Self Managed VDS you will have root access to your server and will have the ability to control all of its functionality. If you prefer to focus on your business and leave the server management to the professionals, stick with the Managed VDS.
